William
R. “Bill” Powers, MD, a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine,
operates a large family practice as part of Lyons Family Group and has been on
staff at Greene County General Hospital for over 40 years, where he has served
as Chief of Staff. For over three decades he has also provided medical services
to the local jail and local school populations, as well as serving as Medical
Director at two nursing homes. Dr. Powers also served as Greene County Coroner
for three terms, and he has been Medical Director of the Greene County Ambulance
Service for over 20 years. He has also served on boards and in other key roles
for a variety of other commercial and civic organizations. Dr. Powers is a
founding member of the Advisory Council to the Dean of the Indiana University
School of Medicine and has continued as a member for over a quarter century.
Additionally he has served as president of the Lyons Economic Development
Committee and is an active member of the Greene County Economic Development
Committee. His many honors include President Carter’s Community Achievement
Award in 1979 and four combat decorations received during his service in
Vietnam. Dr. Powers spent nearly 25 years on the boards of three other banks
before joining the board of Bloomfield State Bank in 2003. He is on the Trust
Committee.
