Leland
S. Barkley
August
12, 1900 to March 15, 1979.
Leland
S. Barkley was a graduate of Odon High School and Butler University
where he lettered four years on the school’s baseball team. Mr.
Barkley served as an officer in the United States Army during
WW I. Afterwards, he spent a short time teaching in local schools.
In
1923 he began his 56-year banking career at Bloomfield State Bank.
Mr. Barkley was an active member of many business, fraternal,
and civic organizations in Greene County.
Leland
Barkley was married to Helen Haig in 1922. The couple became the
parents of two children, Sara and Stanley. Leland Barkley was
later the proud grandfather to Craig, Brad, and Mark. These three
grandsons were from his son, Stanley.
