Stanley
M. Barkley
December 22,
1929 to November 26, 2005.
Stanley
Barkley graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1947, and
DePauw
University in 1951. He also attended The United States Military
Academy, graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the
University of Wisconsin and at Harvard University. Stanley was
a commissioned officer in the United States Army during the Korean
Conflict.
Mr. Barkley married Eleanor Thee in 1954 . They became the proud parents
of three sons, Craig, Bradford, and Mark.
Stanley
began his banking career in 1954 with Bloomfield State Bank. Mr.
Barkley was an active and vital participant at BSB. At the time
of his death, Stanley
held the position of Chairman of the Board. Additionally, he has served on
the Board of Directors for the Indiana Bankers Association, American
Bankers Association, and President of the 8th District Bankers
Association.
Mr.
Barkley has been very active in community and civic organizations.
He formed the Retired Officers Association, the Sojourners,
and the Council Navy League, all in the Crane, IN area.
Additionally,
he has been a member and held offices in numerous organizations
including the American Legion, Boy Scouts, Scottish Rite Shrine,
Masons, Greene County Landmarks Foundation, Housing Authority,
and others.
